Working to Afford to Work

A friend writes on Facebook:

“I go to my corporate job to make good money! But since the office is out in the middle of nowhere, the only place I can eat is the company cafeteria, where the food is expensive. So I have to buy the expensive food to have enough energy to work my corporate job, so I can make enough money to pay for the expensive food that gives me enough energy to work the job that pays for the expensive food.”

I comment:

“If you quit the corporate job, you can get yourself a little piece of land and work it all day to grow food you won’t have to pay for—and then eat that food so you have enough energy to spend all day working the little piece of land where you grow the food you don’t have to pay for.”
